The Board of Health is charged with the protection and promotion of public health, control of disease, environmental protection, and promotion of sanitary living conditions in the Town of Eastham. These responsibilities are accomplished through administering and enforcing the State Environmental Code (MA General Laws Chapter 21A, Section 13, and 310 CMR 15), and the State Sanitary Code (105 CMR 410), and the Eastham Board of Health Regulations. The Board's responsibilities also include reviewing applications and considering variance requests for projects including septic system upgrades and replacements. Under Massachusetts General Law, state, and local regulations, the Board of Health has the authority to adopt regulations (MA General Laws Chapter 111, Section 31) and address concerns about issues that affect public health and the environment. 

The Board shall consist of five voting members, plus 2 alternate members with three-year overlapping terms, with staff support provided by the Health and Environment Director.
