Water Testing for Shellfishing

In order to keep our waters open to shellfishing activities, The Town of Eastham is required to have our waters tested five times annually for fecal coliform bacteria. Natural Resources (DNR) staff uses our two boats to drive the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) area biologist to 28 locations in Cape Cod Bay, Nauset Marsh, and Town Cove to gather water samples. The Department is proud of this work and is committed to safeguarding our shellfish resources so that they can be enjoyed by all.
